I’ve started listening to NASA recordings of the sound Earth makes while I write.

A flarf poem from craigslist missed connections

aka products of my boredom

Missed Your Connection

I admired the way your spine
poked out, a baby stegosaurus,
too pretty to be pumping your own gas
but you managed just fine.

In rare form,
we looked at each other directly,
said hello.

Your instinctual inclination
to throw me a soft smile
was refreshing
in this town of burly barnacles.

We talked as you finished filling.
What was our favorite color?
What song did you sing me?

I believe you are part Russian
and would like to be a teacher,
or something,
when you finish with college.

Wondering if your Friday night
was as exciting as you seemed to think
it would be?

PS I saw your breasts
before I even knew your name.

Can we make this happen?
